In The Shade
Resting in the shade is a relief for the donkey as he doesn't have much of a tail to swish the flies away. Perhaps the children's game,Pin The Tail On The Donkey, came from children's wish to have a long tail for this endearing hard working creature . 11 x 14 acrylic on art panel board...contact gigihackford@yahoo.com

...Sunflower secrets...
The Sunflower holds secrets for sustaining visual popularity... is it the sheer physical beauty of this powerful plant....combined with health benefits from the seeds and oil .... or is the secret in it's natural ability to devotedly follow the sun.... we ponder as we gaze at this magnificent flower ... here I have attempted to capture the energy and life affirming properties of this mighty gentle gift of nature....acrylic on linen 16 x 20

...ready to squeeze...
Ready to squeeze.... ah, the lemon zest ...cleansing aspect of the juice.... all good...and interestingly enough as I'm painting these lemons....I am wearing a yellow linen shirt...and it seems as if every other person who comes into the gallery is wearing yellow.... I guess...on the spectrum ( red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo,violet...) that's where we are right now.... I'm transitioning into a limey lemon next...( acrylic on linen 6 x 12 ...)

...with a twist...
Ah, who hasn't had a thirst for homemade lemonade on hot day....and yes, that clear drink in the fancy glass ...with a twist... actually a summer memory with lemons was when a girlfriend and I wanted to be more blonde and had been told that lemons would bleach our hair....so we squeezed the juice into our hair and rubbed it in....well....we didn't strain the pulp...and spent forever (it seemed) getting the pulp and pits out! ...after alot of giggles and fussing...our hair was really shiny and we thought blonder...

Chasing Butterflies
Chasing Butterflies... also entitled Playing Outside With A Friend.... is a reminder to Play...and the importance of outdoor play in our lives.... I first painted this image for the Fairhope Intermediate School ...from the request of Ricky Trione and Vicky Nix Cook to paint a 48x48 piece for the school... and decided this is an important message.... as we learn while playing.... the response was so positive that I painted a second piece and this is it....36 x 48.... acrylic on canvas.... Play ( at any and every age ) is one of the keys to health and happiness... as is the creative process....enjoy the art!

Mister Meow
There is a cat named Mister Meow ... who speaks so very well
And even though he talks so fine...he simply cannot spell.
"Who are you, sir ?... And what is you name ?"
" Mister, mister, mister...who ? " " Meow". He will exclaim.
When I ask him to tell me the only word he knows...
He answers "Meow" ...then he licks his nose.
One day as I was listening as he cleaned his fur...
I happened to hear another word... " Purr...purrr...purrr."
There is a cat named Mister Meow who speaks so very well...
Don't you agree two words are quite enough for a cat who cannot spell ?
